But First, Glory: Finding Purpose Beyond the Game

Baseball has always been more than just a sport to me. It’s been a teacher, a mirror, and at times, a test. I’ve coached a lot of players over the years — from little leaguers learning how to hold a bat to college athletes trying to find their edge — and one truth keeps showing up: the ones who last aren’t just physically strong, they’re grounded. They play with something deeper than talent — they play with purpose.

That’s what inspired me to launch But First, Glory. It’s not just a brand or a slogan; it’s a mindset. It’s about remembering that before we chase success, stats, or applause, we chase purpose — and we give glory where it belongs. This movement was born out of my own story: years of chasing achievement, hitting walls, finding grace, and learning that faith is the foundation everything else rests on.

Today, But First, Glory is where I get to blend my two callings — coaching and faith. Whether it’s a hitting lesson, a blog post, or a shirt that reminds someone to play for something higher, my goal is simple: to help athletes grow not just as players, but as people. Because when you learn to keep God first, you realize the game isn’t just about wins or stats — it’s about impact, integrity, and gratitude.

If that message resonates with you — if you’re an athlete, a coach, or just someone trying to balance ambition with faith — I’d love for you to follow along. This is just the beginning, and the best stories are still being written.
