Things Don’t Happen to Us — They Happen for Us

It’s easy to look at a setback and feel like God is against us. A lost opportunity… a door that shuts right when we were finally excited… a plan that falls apart even after we prayed over it.
But what if those closed doors aren’t punishment?
What if they’re protection?
What if they’re redirection?
God isn’t in the business of harming His children. He’s in the business of shaping us, guiding us, and positioning us for something more meaningful than we could see at the time.
The Bible reminds us of this again and again:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” – Romans 8:28
Not some things. All things. Even the ones that don’t feel good in the moment.
“The steps of a man are established by the Lord.” – Psalm 37:23
If God establishes the steps, He also establishes the stops.
“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Closed doors are not signs of harm—they are signs of His plan still unfolding.
Sometimes God blocks the path we wanted so we don’t miss the path we actually need. That rejection may be the reason you end up discovering your real calling. That “no” may be the very thing that positions you for a bigger “yes.” That disappointment might be God saving you from something you didn’t even know was coming.
When you trust that God is good, you can trust that even His closed doors are good.
